That said, it is clear that some artists have knowingly or unknowingly blended the two traditions. The terrain is also distinctive: Tobias and Raphael walk along relatively easy paths. The boy will be wearing ragged peasant clothes, unlike Tobias's middle-class garments, and he will look younger than Tobias usually does. The angel's garb will be more like that of angels generally, and there will be no fish. Guardian-angel images usually lack these features. Raphael will usually have something that identifies him as a traveler, such as a broad hat and a staff with a gourd hanging from it. In images of Raphael and Tobias, one will likely see the fish that will be used to cure Tobit's blindness, held on a string by either Raphael or Tobias.
